Fažana
If you want to spend a peaceful family vacation, you should consider visiting Fažana in the vicinity of Pula. It is located by the sea opposite the Brijuni islands. Endowed with the natural attractions such as the deep blue sea with numerous beaches and the Mediterranean air, Fažana has become a famous tourist destination where numerous cultural and musical events as well as folk festivals are held, the most famous is the pilchard festivity.
Pula
Fažana is situated 5 kilometers from the city of Pula which is undoubtedly the center of all the events in Istria during summer. Pula is located in the southern part of the istrian peninsula. Besides its long tradition of wine production, fishing trade and shipbuilding, Pula hosts many ancient monuments, including the preserved magnificent amphitheater.
Brijuni
The Brijuni islands situated opposite Fažana, were declared a National Park of Croatia in 1983. With a total area of 2700 hectares the Brijuni encompass 14 islands of which the largest are Veliki and Mali Brijun islands. Mediterranean and submediterranean vegetation stretches all over the islands offering tourists an atmosphere of unspoilt nature. In the Bay of Verige there are several archeological sites worth seeing . Among these are two ancient Roman villa remains from the 2nd century BC and on the west coast the remains of a Byzantine Palace and St. Mary’s Church dating back to the 6th century.
